How it works

A fair chore chart in four steps

Fast, private, browser-only. Here's exactly what the generator does — and what it deliberately doesn't.

01

Describe your household

Tell the tool who lives there, what kind of household it is (family, roommates, couple, dorm, Airbnb), and how many weeks you want to plan ahead.

02

Pick rooms and chores

Choose from room presets or add your own. Pick chores from suggestions or write custom ones. Each chore gets a frequency, effort level, and an optional difficulty tag.

03

The algorithm balances the load

Fair-rotation weighs effort and difficulty, rotates annoying tasks, spreads rooms across people, and respects weekly, biweekly and monthly cycles.

04

Print, share, check off

Export as PDF (A4 or Letter), PNG, CSV, plain text, or a WhatsApp-friendly summary. Tick chores in the app or on paper. Both work.

What the fair-rotation algorithm actually does

Four rules, applied together for every week of the schedule.

  • Spreads effort, not just count

Three small wipe-downs aren't equal to one toilet scrub. Effort and difficulty both factor into a chore's weight.

  • Rotates annoying tasks

The same person doesn't get stuck on the bin or toilet two weeks running.

  • Distributes rooms

Where possible, you don't get all your chores in one room.

  • Respects frequency

Weekly chores show up every week. Biweekly every two. Monthly every four.

What this tool doesn't do

  • No signup. No account. No email.
  • No server storage — your household lives in your browser memory only.
  • No tracking, no data sale, no reminder emails (we don't have your address).
  • No internet needed after the page loads. Generation runs locally.

Your household, chores and schedule never leave your browser. See the privacy page for the long version.

Free. No signup. About 60 seconds.
