After-School Chore Chart

Twenty minutes of small jobs between homework and dinner. Built around an actual school-day rhythm.

Who this is for

Families with school-age kids who want a small daily contribution that fits between homework and dinner.

After-school is a high-friction time. Kids are tired, parents are juggling dinner prep, and adding 'do your chores' to the mix can light a fuse. The trick is to make the chore predictable, small, and timed — 20 minutes max — so it ends before resentment starts.

Pair it with a snack and a clear endpoint and most kids accept it because there's no negotiation surface. The chart said it. Done.

  2. Pick small daily tasks per kid. Tidy your room. Set table. Feed pet. Take out recycling.
  3. Set a 20-minute timer when they get home. Snack first, then chores while you're cooking.
  4. Print and post in the kitchen. Where they go for the snack.
